Children who dance are CREATIVE, EXPRESSIVE, and CONFIDENT. They develop GROSS and FINE MOTOR SKILLS, COORDINATION, STRENGTH, BALANCE, and KINESTHETIC AWARENESS. Early exposure to a classroom setting creates STRUCTURE, and teaches CLASS ETIQUETTE, COOPERATION, and TEAM WORK.
What is Discover Dance?
The DiscoverDance Early Childhood Program is a series of movement classes designed to introduce children to the creative and expressive world of dance. Each program offers children the opportunity to develop their natural movement ability in a multi-sensory environment. Music, movement, visuals, and props will enhance your dancer’s love of the art form and the unique conceptual approach to dance education
will provide the opportunity for cognitive growth.
What to Expect in Class
The first few weeks we will be introducing class rules and structure as well as getting familiar with the classroom setting. As each week progresses we will be able to get further into our lessons. At home, you will begin to see your dancer singing our songs, doing our dances, and even pretending to be the teacher. We encourage you to PLAY along and help us continue the FUN and EXPLORING outside of the studio!

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my child sitting and
watching instead of dancing?
If your dancer decides they do not want to participate with their friends, the teacher may ask them to sit and watch until they are ready to come back and join the fun. This is to avoid distraction in class and for their safety. If it is becoming habit, the teacher will speak with you on how we can work together to get your dancer to participate. They are still seeing and hearing the class, so even if there are not
physically participating, they are learning.
If my child is crying should
I come in to get him/her?
No. It is normal for a child to cry the first few days of classes. They are getting used to a new space, new grown-ups, and new friends. If your child is upset, the teacher will assess the situation and may hold his/her hand, pick them up (with their permission), or have them sit down by the wall for their safety. They will continuously be invited back to join the fun. If the teacher sees your child is ill or uncontrollably
upset, the teacher will bring them out to you. Please do not open the door and peek in.
Should I stay in the lobby
during the class?
Since your dancer is young, we would suggest doing so. If they are independent and can use the restroom by themselves, then you could probably leave. But, please be back 5 minutes before your child’s class is over. There is nothing worse than coming into the lobby and not seeing your grown-up.
We are late for class. When
should we enter the studio?
If there is a song playing or live singing in session, please wait for a break in the song/singing. The entire class becomes distracted when a dancer enters the studio
during a song. Thank you for your cooperation!
